私は芸術を喪失させた地平で、自分の生を記録するように日々淡々と線を引き続けることで芸術作品を作ることそのものを否定するという絵画を制作しています。様々な表現手段がある現代において絵画を選び絵画を描いていること、絵画が絵画であることとはどういうことなのかを問うために、具体的なモチーフや物語性、画面上の主知主義的な操作を一切排除した絵画を描いています。現代においてはデジタルツールでの制作、VRでの仮想空間上への描画、AIに絵の制作の依頼ができる時代です。そのような時代の中において最もアナログな媒体である絵画を選んで制作している私は、絵画が絵画であることに対しての批評的な視座を持つ必要があると考えました。自分の内面的な世界や感情を表現することが絵画に対する批評性を獲得することにつながらないと考えた私は、主知主義的な操作を排除したミニマルな動作を反復していくだけの絵画を描こうと思い立ち、今の作品の形に繋がっていきました。

I create paintings on the ground where art has been lost, by quietly drawing lines day after day as a way of recording my own life, thereby negating the very act of producing an artwork itself. In today’s world, overflowing with information and abundant means of expression, I deliberately choose painting, and through painting I question what it means for painting to exist as painting. To that end, I make paintings that entirely eliminate concrete motifs, narratives, and intellectual or conceptual manipulation on the pictorial surface.In an era where creation through digital tools, drawing within virtual reality, and even delegating image-making to AI has become possible, I have chosen the most analog medium—painting. I believe this choice demands a critical perspective toward painting as such. I came to think that expressing my inner world or emotions does not in itself lead to a critical stance toward painting. Instead, I resolved to paint works that consist only of repeating minimal gestures while excluding intellectual operations, which ultimately gave rise to the form of my current practice.
